My view.

I believe that most people can benefit from a session of counselling, it is a rare experience to have someone who truelly listens to what you are saying, it is very helpful to know that someone 'gets' you.
  • counselling isn't 'just listening' it is being understood
  • having someone fighting from your corner
  • discussing your thoughts and feelings
  • supporting you psychologically to achieve where you want to be in relationship to your life.
  • sometimes life can be hard and on-going support from a non-judgemental person makes all the difference to the outcome.
I work in a way that is respectful to you, possibly challenging how you may view yourself .
Whether it is for short term or longer term work, I hope that if you come and see me, you will leave your final session feeling independent, grounded, positive and more forgiving of yourself.
You are the professional of you, I am there to facilitate your deeper understanding of yourself sometimes described as peeling the onion.
  • Counselling works most effectively on a weekly basis, starting with an initial assessment to get a broad view of what your concerns are and how I can best support you.
  • Fees: dependent on venue my fees are between £60-£80, there may be some room for negotiation discussed on an individual basis. This is more negotiable at my SE12 practice.

Background.

Moving to London in 1983, I have done a vast array of jobs which I feel help with my work today.
Initially working at Marie Stopes International, as an advice worker dealing with legalities, doctors and pregnant women, I was prompted to investigate training as a counsellor and found my niche!
I developed a Post- Abortion counselling service, devised training for doctors improving 'bedside' manner and worked there primarily as an 'in-house' counsellor.

Moving swiftly, to Cannons Health Club & Spa in the City, I managed and developed the Spa into a thriving multi-disciplinary service offering counselling, alternative therapies, osteopathy, physio and health screening.
As  my practice became busier, I left the management role of the Spa and proceeded solely with my own practice - 'City Counsel'.
I became a BACP accredited counsellor, furthered my qualifications at the Gestalt Centre, London completing a Post -Graduate Certificate in Gestalt Therapy Theory Studies, a thorough all inspiring course.
Working as an affiliate with AXA-PPP employment assistance
programme(EAP)  offering work-place and trauma counselling for their specialist services.
Completing a Masters in Counselling at Goldsmiths University of London, resulting in a paper titled;

'The Self: The clinical implications and overlaps of theories of the self within Freudian based psychodynamic and Gestalt therapy'

I have completed a Clinical Supervision Training at Regents University London.

A Freelance trainer at The City Lit Institute, (Ofsted Outstanding),  facilitating 1 day workshops for professional development
