Supervision
Supervision up until recently has been solely for counsellors. It is a requirement for practicing BACP therapists to have supervision.
It is also available for a variety of professions such as massage therapists, managers of groups, anywhere where you feel you need to confidentially discuss your casework to ensure you are best supporting your clients or employees.
I believe that supervision helps you to reduce stress. It provides a space for confidential conversations to take place: about how you are developing and managing you work life; how you are taking care of yourself; how you are managing specific relational difficulties with clients; and how you formulate your therapeutic plans. Most importantly, it is a place to reflect on professional issues and maintain appropriate perspectives.
- Confidentiality
Your supervision sessions are private and confidential. This means that I will not disclose your name or any information about you to anybody else. The only exception to that is if I have reason to believe that someone, a child for instance is at risk of serious harm. If that were the case, I would discuss with you the need to involve a third party before doing so, except in extremely rare circumstances.
As a supervisor and a Registered MBACP (Accred) counsellor, I adhere to a strict code of ethical practice. This includes discussing also my work with a qualified supervisor, where your name is not disclosed. If you would like more in depth details, here is the BACP website address. http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/
- Key point to consider...
o An initial assessment usually lasts up to an hour.
o Subsequent sessions are dependent on your caseload for 50 minutes.
o It is not possible to extend your appointment if you arrive late.
o Payments can be made by cash at the end of each session or if you wish by Internet banking. I’ll invoice you one week before the end of each month and it would need to be settled by your last session of that month.
o My home practice has no waiting area, so please try not to arrive more than a few minutes before your appointment slot otherwise I am unlikely to be able to answer the door!
o My practice at N1 has a reception area, you will be asked who you are here to see - you are not required to reveal your name. There’s a waiting area there if you arrive early and complimentary drinks for you.
o Supervision works best when attended regularly.
- Cancelled appointments.
Cancelled appointments or not turning up are chargeable sessions unless you give me at 14 days notice via email, telephone or directly to me. If you have holidays booked, please let me know. I tend to take approx. 5 weeks off per year.
If you have to cancel on the day, please always call me on 07986589689 rather than email. Any other questions, please do feel free to ask me.
